I'm Solène — but call me Sol. I really belong in the water, as a synchronized swimmer. Still, running caught up with me eventually, and today I often show up to running society straight from the pool with wet hair.
THE BEGINNING.
I discovered running society through social media — and actually wanted to join much earlier. But I didn't dare for a long time. I thought I wasn't fast enough. At my first session I immediately noticed how open and relaxed everyone was. Nobody checks anyone else's watch. My advice: just show up. Just go for it.
Bueno, VAMOS.
FRIDAYS ON THE TRACK.
RS Friday Power is my session — sorry, Magnus. Intervals with the Latinos: completely overpacing, seeing a 4:00 flash on the watch for a second (definitely not HM pace yet), and wondering if you're going to die on the track today. Spoiler: you survive. And come back next week.
RUNNING DRILLS.
During running drills I regularly laugh at myself. It definitely looks easier than it is — but the coordination is actually coming along slowly. If you catch me cheering others on and then attempting the drills myself: that's authentic RS energy.
WHY RS.
I've felt very comfortable in the atmosphere from the start. The coaches are super approachable, the training is structured — exactly the right mix of performance-oriented and genuinely fun. What really impresses me: how much heart the crew puts into events, races, and shared activities. You can feel it.
ON THE MOVE.
The year still has a lot in store: a 5.5k in the Allgäu with a new PB, European Championships in synchronized swimming, crossing Lake Geneva as a relay. And then the big goal: my first half marathon in Cardiff — followed by the Munich Marathon, where I'm hoping for 3:15. A bit of everything, with full commitment.
