I'm Alex, a coach at running society. And that's despite initially thinking I'd never run more than 5k on the road, only in the mountains.

THE BEGINNING.

It was a Monday. Actually, as so often, I'd arranged to grab wine with my girls at Don't Call Mama. Inside, running society had just gathered. Someone said: "Let's check this out." And so we just joined the run.

That was 2017. Back then the sessions still ran with partner workouts in the Hofgarten and at the Maximiliananlagen — varied, loud, full of energy. My first race with the crew: the 10k at Schliersee — 2018. I didn't have any big ambitions. But I was there.

"I thought I'd never run more than 5k on the road."

FAVORITE SESSION.

The partner workouts. Because it's more varied — and because you push harder for the other person. It's a different feeling when someone is standing right next to you, waiting. You don't do the last interval for yourself, but for the person across from you.

And then there are the crew trips. The weekends where you travel somewhere together, sweat together, eat and laugh in the evening, and realize: this is more than sport. Those are exactly the moments that stay with you.

WHY RS.

The community. And the friends I've made here — or rather: found again. Doing sport together is simply more fun than doing it alone. That sounds simple, but it's true.

As a coach, I obviously come back every Monday. 😉 But honestly: I'd come anyway.

WHAT'S NEXT.

There's still a trail ultra on the calendar this year — I'm already really looking forward to it. And I'm at Infinite Trails every year. This year especially: we're running as an all-girls relay. That's going to be great.

Then we'll see what else comes along.
