What started as a small gathering in a bar now runs in three cities. But the beginning was anything but planned.

Early Days · 2016 – 2017

THE BEGINNING.

December 2016. Don't Call Mama, a bar on Schellingstraße, four coaches, one clear concept: Urban Running, intervals, workout — tough and performance-driven. A small Facebook group to spread the word — every Monday at 7pm. Monday Fight Run was born.

Munich's running scene back then was mostly clubs, marathon prep, or solo. What was missing: a format for people who wanted to run fast, but weren't looking for competition in a training plan, but on the street — with others, week after week.

A bar, four coaches, every Monday at 7pm.

The name said it all. Monday Fight Run meant: hard intervals after the weekend, workout on asphalt, in a tunnel or on a staircase. Those who came, came for the sessions. Those who stayed, stayed for the group.

THE GROWTH.

It grew. Slowly at first, then week by week more people. In 2018, Florian and Seana joined the team replacing Martin and Julia, the group got bigger, the intervals harder — 30, 40 people sharing the same meeting point every Monday.

With the growth came the stories. First shared races. Workouts, long runs, or parties. Those who joined once came back — and brought someone new the next time. "Just running with this group today" became a regular calendar appointment.

Then came Corona. Partners left, coaches moved away. Sessions via Zoom or not at all. But what came back after the lockdown: the Monday Fight Run.

Today there are still participants at the start who ran with us for the first time in 2017 — something we're particularly proud of.

After the lockdowns, much was different yet familiar at the same time.

The group reformed. Over time came the ambition to think of runningsociety not just as a Monday run, but as what it had become:

A community with multiple formats, coaches, and a unique character.

runningsociety Community München
runningsociety Crew unterwegs
runningsociety Crew beim Laufen
runningsociety Crew Action
runningsociety Community Crew
runningsociety am Friedensengel 2019 — Treffpunkt München
runningsociety Theresienwiese 2020 — Training München
runningsociety Community — Gruppentraining
runningsociety Crew — Gemeinschaft

TODAY.

In 2023, Axel and Alex joined as coaches. In 2024, Steffi and Tobi and the RS Power Run, which Steffi now co-leads with Felix — the first RS track-ready format.

2025 brought the Longfight with Thomas and Larissa.

End of 2025 Berlin, mid 2026 Hamburg.

Every new format has at least one coach who's passionate about it. Every new city didn't come from expansion, but from people who want to bring the RS spirit to their city. Berlin wasn't a carefully crafted plan — it grows through runners with a shared goal: to improve and meet great people along the way.

Add to that coaching packages for those who want more than Fight or Power. Camps in the mountains and hopefully more soon. Events like the annual Wings for Life Team and other races are now firmly part of the picture.

A brand that comes not from marketing, but from the group itself.

And the most important thing: people stay, are motivated, get involved.

What started as a small gathering in a bar now runs in three cities. With every run, every new meeting point, every newcomer, the story continues.

Thank you for that!
